More Prophecy Pane Generator updates
24 Oct, 2025
Warning: The ProphGen page itself contains Deltarune Chapter 4 spoilers!
I've made several updates to the Prophecy Pane Generator over the past few days. This is partially because of the other website, but also because I'm having fun developing my own version (plus I like the aesthetic, which you might be able to tell from this website's theme).
Here's what's changed since the last progress update:
- You can now select from the built-in prophecy presets, instead of spam refreshing/clicking "Randomise" to get the one you want.
- A new colour filter was added: "Last Prophecy". This matches the filter used in the last room of the Third Sanctuary, and is enabled by default on the prophecies it is used on in-game.
- Refreshed the pane customiser UI, including a bigger text area to enter a prophecy message. It also accepts actual newlines now, instead of typing "\n".
- Various accuracy fixes to the Prophecy Generator, including:
- Fixed edge gradient being too small.
- Restored the background image filter colours to the standard values used by Deltarune (they were originally slightly darker to compensate for the gradient being too small).
- Fixed timings for the scroll effect and background colour filter.
- Fixed missing animation on one of the bonus prophecy presets.
- Fixed incorrect base texture for prophecy text.
- Fixed background colour filter not applying properly on i(Pad)OS Safari. A blog post will be made on the underlying bug Soon™.
- JavaScript compatibility fixes for older browsers/devices, including a notice if your browser doesn't support ProphGen's CSS.
- Made the Annoying Dog/Dogcheck prophecy the default if your browser doesn't have JavaScript enabled, or an error occurs during script initialisation.
- Optimisations to some underlying assets.
- Prophecy panes now respect your system's animation settings. If you system has "Reduce motion" or a similar setting enabled, panes will appear still.
- An option to override your system's "Reduce motion" setting has been added to the Prophecy Pane Generator page. The homepage is not affected by this setting, and will always respect your system's motion setting.
For the next major update, I plan to finally fix the god awful custom text rendering (the homepage animation doesn't suffer from this problem, as the text is pre-rendered). Unfortunately I have to start from scratch, because yours truly accidentally deleted their working prototype pixel font renderer with no backup. Follow the 3-2-1 rule, kids (that means keep three copies of your work, with two being backups, storing one of those backups offsite, i.e. cloud storage).

I know I said this last time, but if Codeberg Pages goes down because of ProphGen, I'm sorry. The Deltarune community must be fed.
